When should the mattress in caravans and motorhomes be replaced?

Speaking of moisture: in caravans and motorhomes, the mattress is sometimes exposed to extreme temperature fluctuations and high humidity. Here, the particularly breathable foam mattresses ensure optimum moisture transportation. They are particularly insensitive to temperature fluctuations and changing climatic conditions.

Foam mattresses are also easy to clean as the material is very porous. The mattress covers are usually removable so that they can be easily washed in the washing machine. This guarantees a perfect sleeping climate in the motorhome in the long term and also extends the life of the mattress.

Cold foam has an open cell structure that enables good air circulation and thus reduces the formation of moisture. This ensures a comfortable and pleasant sleeping climate in the motorhome, even on longer journeys. Furthermore, cold foam mattresses absorb movement very well. This is advantageous if one of the partners moves around a lot during sleep. These movements are then not transferred to the entire mattress.

A motorhome mattress made of air-permeable comfort foam is a good choice for people who sweat in their sleep or are cold despite a thick blanket. Its thermo-regulating properties ensure an optimum sleeping climate at all times, even in changing weather and climate conditions.

Viscofoam mattresses are particularly popular with mobile travelers who suffer from tension or back pain thanks to their excellent body contouring properties. Visco foam reacts to body heat and weight by adapting to the body. This ensures even pressure distribution during sleep and can relieve joint and muscle pain as there are fewer pressure points.

The firmness of the camper mattress must match your own needs.

This can be a real challenge in a motorhome, as the built-in bed is rarely large enough for two separate mattresses to be used. Many campers therefore swear by so-called reversible mattresses with two different firmnesses on the top and bottom of the mattress. This means that the mattress can be easily turned over if necessary to make the sleeping comfort firmer or softer.
